(More customer reviews)I bought this heater for an Eclipse System Three (also manufactured by Marineland).When mounted in the area provided for it in the Eclipse, which is directly beside the filter, the aluminum cylinder in the heater sometimes interacts with the filter motor and causes the filter impeller to spin irregularly, which produces a LOUD vibrational noise.This happens seemingly at random and lasts for around a minute or more.
In order to avoid it, I had to mount the heater on the left pane of the aquarium, where it is somewhat more conspicuous than in the back, putting some distance between it and the filter motor.
Otherwise I am quite satisfied with it, I have the temperature set at 88F for fishless cycling and I haven't noticed it fluctuate more than a degree.Just be aware that if you buy this for an Eclipse System Three, you'll probably end up having to mount it elsewhere than the "natural" spot.

To use, attach suction cups within 3" to top of heater, set the temperature, and install the heater by pressing the suction cups against the surface, being sure that the heater is not touching gravel or aquarium ornaments. Then plug the unit into an electrical outlet.
