I like the matted black finish - I think it looks more elegant that way, but it probably depends on your room decor.It's cold enough where I live that I leave the heater at maximum temperature for the most of time.I have used the ComforTemp button and it seems to level out the heat, but it hasn't been tested enough to know for sure.
